Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Healthways Inc. announced Friday that Blue Zones Project demonstration communities from across the country will gather in Des Moines on May 5-6 for the first-ever Blue Zones Project Summit. The event will bring together leaders and influencers who are passionate about the health and well-being of their communities to hear from nationally known speakers, to network, and to share their success with others. Gov. Terry Branstad is scheduled to address attendees on May 6 at 1:30 p.m. Iowa currently has eight certified Blue Zones Communities.
