Administrative office move enables Walnut Street School expansion
The Des Moines Public Schools administrative offices have officially moved west to their new location on Grand Avenue, freeing space for more students at the Walnut Street School downtown, The Des Moines Register reported. The former administrative space at the Walnut Street School will be converted to classroom space, enabling the 300-student school to grow to about 450 students. The administration’s new location, the former Iowa Lottery building at 2323 Grand Ave., is expected to save the school district $80,000 a year in downtown parking costs, the Register reported.
