Des Moines-based Weitz Co. will have feet on the ground in College Station, Texas, after being selected for the design and build portion of a $360 million student housing project at Texas A&M University. The value of the design and build segment of the project is $245 million, Weitz said in a release. The project will add rooms for 3,402 students in nearly 1.8 million square feet of building space and includes retail and office space and an eight-story parking garage. The apartments are expected to open before the 2017-18 school year on 48 acres of what is now pasture.
