State supports more bacon with $1 million in incentives
The Iowa Economic Development Authority granted a $1 million forgivable loan to Quality Food Processors of Denison on Friday. The assistance will help the company with a $21 million upgrade of its plant to add a new bacon cooking line for its King Cotton and Blue Ribbon brands, according to a release. The company expects to create 195 jobs at at least $12,70 an hour. In mid-August, another Denison meat processor – Tyson Foods Inc. – laid off 400 workers when it closed its plant.
