HarvestPlains Health, a new Greater Des Moines-based not-for-profit health plan, has entered the Medicare Advantage market in Dallas, Polk and Warren counties. The health plan was founded by Prominence Health, a subsidiary of Catholic Health Initiatives, the parent company of Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines. HarvestPlains Health emphasizes preventive care, disease management and wellness programs. The health plan will partner with Mercy to provide a more coordinated care experience for its Medicare patients, Mercy CEO Bob Ritz said in a release. With the addition of Iowa, Prominence now offers Medicare Advantage plans in 17 states, according to its website.
