SBA backed $2.7 million in Central Iowa loans in September

The U.S. Small Business Administration in September backed $2.7 million in private loans to 16 Central Iowa businesses that pledged to create 81 jobs and retain 147.

The loans were in Polk, Story, Boone, Dallas, Madison, Warren, Marion, Jasper and Marshall counties. Among the largest:
  • $400,000 to computer programming firm Pioneer Consulting Services LLC of West Des Moines, which plans to create 30 jobs and keep 78.
  • $350,000 to International Veterinary Supplies Inc. of Des Moines, creating eight jobs and retaining eight.
  • $329,000 to AFLAC, a Johnston insurance agency, creating six jobs.
  • $240,000 to Finesse Spa Salon in Ames, creating 12 jobs and retaining 23.
  • $150,000 to Vilas & Rosno Inc. marketing firm in Des Moines, creating three jobs and retaining 15.

Statewide, the SBA backed 45 loans from private lenders for $16 million. The loans, under two key programs, helped  22 new and 23 existing businesses that report creating 215 new jobs and retaining 524 jobs as a result.
