Rebuilding the World Trade Center will pay off by 2036
The rebuilding of the 16-acre World Trade Center site will pay for itself in two decades, according to a study by New York University’s Rudin Center, Crain’s New York Business reported. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will have spent $6.7 billion of its own funds by 2019, when the site’s redevelopment will be largely complete. The total cost of the project is about $17 billion, with $10 billion of that paid for by government, insurance and other money. The Port Authority should recover more than 97 percent of its share of the project costs by 2036.
