SBA backed $8.8 million in loans for Central Iowa businesses in October

The U.S. Small Business Administration backed 19 loans totaling $8.8 million for Central Iowa businesses in October. The assistance helped create 108 jobs and retain 154 existing jobs in Polk, Story, Boone, Dallas, Madison, Warren, Marion, Jasper and Marshall counties.


That’s the highest number of loans in five months.


Statewide, the SBA backed 38 loans totaling $14.8 million in October, helping 16 new and 22 existing businesses. The loans are expected to help create 158 jobs and retain 251 others.


Among the biggest loans supported by the SBA was $2.3 million to RCC Investments Inc., a book publisher that plans to retain two jobs.


Bombela Holding Cos. LLC of Des Moines, an automotive repair company, won approval for a $2.2 million loan expected to help keep 52 jobs.
