Leah Ackerman, product coordinator at Meredith Corp. in Des Moines, was honored with a 2015 Governor’s Volunteer Award for her work with Community Youth Concepts, a Des Moines-based nonprofit that provides opportunities to Central Iowa youths that prepare them for success in school, work and life. Ackerman received the Individual Volunteer Award for serving 50 hours or more in 2014, while demonstrating exemplary leadership, creativity, cooperation and hard work in her service to others.
