Letters being sent out on Des Moines franchise fee refund
Franchise fee refund letters are being sent out to residents of the city Des Moines who were utility customers from Sept. 1, 2004, to May 26, 2009,according to KCCI.com. The move comes following a long court battle focusing on the city charging gas and electric customers an additional fee that was later found to not be allowed. The city lost a $40 million class-action lawsuit over the fees. Those wanting a refund can submit a claim online before April 28, 2016.
