Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines has been formally recognized by the American College of Surgeons as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. Mercy’s Adult Trauma Center had already gained that recognition. The verification process confirms that Mercy has the resources and expertise needed to care for all trauma patients, including 24-hour immediate coverage by trauma surgeons and other health care specialists. “Mercy Trauma Services has always provided exceptional care, but this validates our dedication to having the best trauma care available to patients of all ages, 24/7,” said Dr. Willie McClairen, trauma medical director at Mercy. The Mercy Trauma Center is on the north side of Mercy’s central campus.
