Emerald ash borer confirmed in Des Moines
City officials have confirmed an emerald ash borer infestation sighting in western Des Moines this month. The pest, which kills all species of ash trees, was confirmed in West Des Moines and Urbandale last year. In 2014, the Des Moines Public Works Department began emerald ash borer treatment or removal of an estimated 6,000 ash trees on public land.
