Following the recent appointment of Pleasant Hill Mayor Sara Kurovski to the Million Women Mentors — Iowa Executive Council, the group announced it is adding a Mayor’s Challenge to its outreach efforts to encourage STEM mentoring between Iowa girls and women. Led by Iowa Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds, the Iowa mentoring group supports programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics throughout the state, with a goal of providing mentors in all 99 counties by 2018. Kurovski will lead the Mayor’s Challenge, which will focus on encouraging mayors across Iowa to join the mentoring group in connecting mentors within their communities to help the group reach its goal.
