Regent opposes Johnson County minimum wage at UI

A Johnson County ordinance requires incrementally raising the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour by 2017, reports Radio Iowa. “I will oppose raising the minimum wage to cause higher debt to our students,” McKibben said. Rod Lehnertz, UI senior vice president for finance and operations, said the university isn’t bound by the county’s ordinance, but it would consider market conditions in setting the lowest pay rate.
