Editor’s Note: We at Lift IOWA thought it was important to include a link to a story this week about Hillary Clinton securing the Democratic presidential nomination. We usually steer away from focusing on partisan politics, but we felt this story is important as a milestone in women’s history.
For those girls — many of them now mothers with daughters of their own — what happened Tuesday night was more than a political triumph, writes Holly Yan for CNN. Regardless of party persuasion, Hillary Clinton’s victory is the definition of historic: She became the first female presidential nominee of a major political party.
Her chances of becoming president — the first female head of state in America’s 238-year history — are now much closer to reality.
