The Internal Revenue Service’s decision to pull Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino’s nonprofit tax status — a move that is under appeal — has rejuvenated a debate over whether Polk County should sell the facility, The Des Moines Register reported. Some experts suggest the price tag could be between $500 million and $1 billion, but there are no current offers. The county previouslyturned down a bid of $300 million in 1998.
