A new order from the Iowa Utilities Board could mean some cash for owners of solar panels or other renewable energy systems, The Des Moines Register reported. The panel approved a new three-year plan that will require utilities to “cash out” credits the system owners have accumulated when they used less power than was produced. Half the cash-out will go to the customers, with the rest going to an account to help low-income families with bills.
