The U.S. General Services Administration is asking for ideas for the location of a new federal courthouse in Des Moines, according to a news release. The GSA said earlier this year that it plans to replace the existing courthouse in downtown Des Moines as well as the leased Courthouse Annex with a $136 million, 230,000-square-foot structure that will have nine courtrooms and 13 chambers. “We’ve been working closely with Des Moines community leaders to better understand the best options for the site of the new courthouse,” GSA Regional Administrator Jason Klumb said in the release. “This is the beginning of our formal process to select its location.” Suggestions should be sent to the GSA in letter form by Aug. 16. Instructions on how to prepare and where to send the letter are included here. The GSA plans to identify a site by spring 2017.
