Performance Livestock Analytics, a system that helps farmers track and manage activities and inventories, won the $25,000 first prize in this year’s John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition at Drake University. Punctil Health, which offers a software solution to help manage healthcare appointments by reducing wait times, won the $15,000 second-place prize. Swinetech, which calls its product a “Fitbit for pigs,” monitors hogs in an effort to keep sows from crushing piglets. Entrepreneur John Pappajohn helped distribute the awards, part of an 11-year commitment of more than $800,000 from he and his wife, Mary.
