Twenty artists’ impressions of iconic Des Moines buildings are on display through Sept. 9 at the Iowa Center for Architecture in Capital Square. The artists were asked to submit their work in a 12-by-12-inch square created for the Des Moines Art Center’s 2016 gala, “built, A celebration of Architecture | Des Moines Art Center + Community.” The exhibit is titled “ft²” and each piece of artwork will be sold at the gala to support the Art Center’s free admission and outreach programs. Additional reproductions are available directly from the artists. A limited edition book including building photographs, artist statements and reproductions of all of their works will be available Sept. 18 in the Des Moines Art Center Museum Shop. The Iowa Architectural Foundation is hosting the exhibit at Capital Square.
