President Steve Bruere and Peoples Co. have landed some big speakers for the 10th annual Land Investment Expo, including economist-actor-comedian Ben Stein and hedge fund manager Steve Eisman, whose prediction of the mortgage crisis inspired the movie “The Big Short.” The event will be Feb. 3 at the West Des Moines Sheraton. Stein appeared as a teacher in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” and later was seen widely as a commentator, columnist and author, often focused on economics. Mark Tercek, CEO of the Nature Conservancy, also will appear. That nonprofit focuses on natural capital and is involved in efforts to improve water quality in Iowa. Register and learn more online.
