75 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentDes Moines residents rented out their homes, apartments or spare rooms about 4,800 times during the year that ended July 31, a 179 percent increase over the previous year, according Airbnb data reported by The Des Moines Register. The online short-term rental service has been the subject of some suburban regulation and discussion, but so far Des Moines city officials have not taken any action. Most of the rentals occurred in downtown Des Moines.
