Brookings Institution examines ‘global cities,’ includes Des Moines
Des Moines’ advancments as a global city are part of a new report from the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program called “The Making of Global Cities: Stories from the Global Cities Exchange.” “By smartly identifying and investing in core products and services that can compete and be sold globally, Des Moines and a growing number of U.S. cities and metro areas are showing that they have a role to play in the world economy,” the report said. The report includes information about Des Moines’ participation in Brookings’ Global Cities exchange research and planning effort, and other Greater Des Moines Partnership initiatives such as the Global Insurance Accelerator, a new ag accelerator and reports intended to boost talent recruitment and global trade.
