Manufacturing Day events scheduled statewide Oct. 7
Iowa Workforce Development has collaborated with community colleges and companies to help coordinate and promote Manufacturing Day events that will be held across the state on Oct. 7. The annual event is geared toward encouraging students to consider careers in manufacturing amid a shortage of skilled workers. In Iowa, manufacturing accounts for about 15 percent of employment and 88 percent of exports. Locally, the DMACC Southridge Center for Professional and Career Development will host a tour on Oct. 7 of its welding facilities. For a full list of events statewide, click here.
