The value of prime Iowa farmland dropped 5 percent in the third quarter from the same period a year ago, according to a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. The report is based on a survey of agriculture lenders in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. For the entire district, land values dropped 3 percent from a year ago. Land values in the district have declined for four consecutive quarters, the first time that has happened since 1986 to 1987, according to the report.
