Mercy-Des Moines ends fiscal 2016 in the black
Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines had a good year financially this past fiscal year, recording a net $37.3 million of revenues over expenses for the year ended June 30, according to an annual report posted today on its website. Mercy recorded patient service revenue of $915 million and other revenue of $92.7 million, with operating expenses of $967.4 million. Total patient admissions of 36,047 were 1.1 percent lower than the previous fiscal year, and emergency department visits were up 2.4 percent to 80,798 visits. Outpatient visits numbered 262,330. There were more than 1.06 million visits to Mercy Clinics in the past fiscal year, compared with 1.23 million visits in the year-ago period. Mercy also reported more than $38.8 million in total community benefit this past fiscal year, which included more than $4 million in charity care and $23.8 million in uncompensated Medicaid care.
