The money will be used for hiring key personnel and for market planning and entry efforts, according to a release from IEDA. The board also awarded West Des Moines-based medical software company Rational Surgical Solutions a $100,000 loan to help prepare its Software as a Service (SaaS) product for market.
The software educates patients in the preoperative and postoperative periods about treatments and surgeries to improve their comprehension of complex medical procedures and reduce the risk of malpractice suits.
Both loans were from the state demonstration fund, which assists commercialization activities by small and medium-sized Iowa companies in the advanced manufacturing, biosciences and information technology industries.
