DART to donate Thursday fares to food program

81 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, TransportationThe Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) plans to donate all cash fares paid on Thursday to Partnership for Hunger-Free Polk County, which supports food pantries in the community. Donations will be accepted in the fareboxes, too. “Our goal is a truly hunger-free county, and when we work with organizations like DART, we can make a greater impact,” said Polk County Supervisor John Mauro. “The donation will directly benefit the children and families who need better access to food resources.”
