DART riders donate $3,250 during Fares for Food Day
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority collected $3,250 in donations from riders during its annual Fares for Food Day. DART CEO Elizabeth Presutti presented a check Wednesday to the Polk County supervisors at the Polk County River Place food pantry. “We live in an extraordinarily generous community, and DART is proud to support local initiatives like Hunger Free Polk County,” Presutti said. Led by County Supervisor John Mauro, the Partnership for Hunger Free Polk County was created in 2014 to help raise awareness of hunger in Polk County, expand existing food assistance programs, and facilitate improved coordination between providers. Donations can be made online.
