Variety grants to benefit Mercy Children’s Hospital, House of Mercy
Variety — the Children’s Charity has awarded Mercy Foundation a $250,000 grant to benefit Mercy Children’s Hospital & Clinics and a $18,766 grant to benefit House of Mercy. The grants will fund remodeling projects for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit family waiting room and the MRI pediatric preparation room, and will fund three MRI “goggles” for use by children while getting MRI scans. The goggles will allow young patients to watch a movie during their scan with the goal of keeping them calm, reducing their need for sedation. A replacement walk-in cooler for House of Mercy’s kitchen will also be funded. “We are extremely pleased to have received this grant support from Variety — the Children’s Charity,” said Shannon Cofield, president of Mercy Foundation. “With these funds we are able to purchase innovative equipment and complete remodel projects designed to enhance the health care experience and healing environment for children and their families during their time at Mercy.”
