Wells Fargo & Co. kicks off its Rock the Block event Thursday.

During the three-day event, about 400 Wells Fargo employees are taking to the streets of the northeast area of the Drake neighborhood to assist low-income residents with repair and maintenance of their homes.

Wells Fargo is conducting a nationwide effort to increase the availability of affordable housing while stabilizing and rebuilding distressed neighborhoods. As part of that effort, the company awarded the Polk County Housing Trust Fund a $250,000 grant from Wells Fargo’s housing foundation.

Des Moines was one of 33 cities to receive a grant from Wells Fargo.
