The West Des Moines Leadership Academy 2012 class will hold a fundraiser on April 27 to benefit Meals from the Heartland.

The event, called Morsel Combat, A Food Event Fighting Hunger, is a “Top Chef” competition that will take place at the Embassy Suites Des Moines Downtown Hotel from 6 to 10 p.m.

Twenty local chefs will compete and showcase their specialties, with each plate that is prepared working within the guidelines of the Healthiest State Initiative’s parameters. All ticket sales will go directly to Meals from the Heartland, a local nonprofit organization that packages meals for local Iowans as well as for those in Third World countries.
