Community Foundation accepting nominations for Better Together award
The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines is now accepting nominations for its Better Together Award. The award winner will be announced May 3 at the Community Foundation’s 2012 Celebration Luncheon and Report to the Community at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. Nominations are due April 2 for nonprofit organizations, civic groups and individuals who build social capital in the community. Social capital is defined as connections among diverse people or groups, based on trust, that enhance cooperation for mutual benefit. If an individual is selected as the award winner, he or she will receive a $1,000 award, donated to a charitable organization of his or her choice that builds social capital. If a nonprofit organization or civic group is selected as the award winner, it will receive a $2,500 grant to use toward its social capital work. Complete an online nomination here .
