Yellow and Capitol cabs will give men and women in U.S. military uniforms free rides from Des Moines International Airport to any location in the Des Moines metro area during the holiday season, the owner of the taxi services said today.

Des Moines-based Trans Iowa LC, owner of the Yellow and Capitol cab franchises, said military personnel will be directed to the cab steward at the airport upon arrival to arrange a free ride home. The free rides will be provided Thanksgiving Day through Dec. 31.

“In many cases, family, careers and lives have been put on hold to serve our country and keep us safe. We are providing the free rides to recognize, in a small way, the service they provide to our country,” said Trans Iowa President Randy Sackett.

Trans Iowa is Iowa’s largest single source transportation provider, offering taxi and charter bus services and specialized transportation planning services in Des Moines and Iowa.
