National article takes notice of server farm bid
A recent article in Fortune identified a fight between Altoona and Kearney, Neb., for a $1.5 billion server farm project.
The article leads off by detailing a “high-tech parlor game playing out in an unlikely place: the American Plains.” It quotes Iowa State University economist Dave Swenson saying, “For people who are way outside Silicon Valley, this is about as close as they can come to claiming they’re somehow connected to technology or that dimension of economic growth.”
The company looking to build the server farm has kept its name secret, though rumors have linked Facebook Inc. and Apple Inc.
