Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 Administrator Karl Brooks on Monday will announce details of a project to help the city build green infrastructure.

The EPA will provide design assistance to help the city focus on a proposed streetscape plan for one mile of Sixth Avenue. A team of designers and landscape architects will participate in a three-day design workshop in Des Moines early next year.

The project was first announced in September.
