Report: Iowa No. 3 in nation for volunteering
More than 910,000 Iowa volunteers served more than 99 million total hours last year.
That work was valued at more than $2.1 billion, according to the Volunteering and Civic Life in America report released today.
The percentage of Iowans reporting involvement in volunteer activities increased from 37.9 percent to 38.4 percent, and the number of hours they served grew to an average of 41.9 hours from 34.3. Iowa’s percentage of volunteers ranked third in the nation.
