A new 38,000-square-foot building will be added in Grimes Business Park.

Performance Display Inc. will consolidate its three operating facilities in Greater Des Moines into that building.

David Lewis, vice president of operations and an owner at Performance Display, said a record year in 2007 and increases in staff and business have pushed the need for a new building.

“Putting all these spaces together will increase efficiency and will bring a stronger corporate identity,” he said.

Lewis said Grimes was the choice because of its location, land prices and the city’s intereste in growing its business sector.

The new commercial building has an estimated cost of $2.5 million and construction will begin this month. The company hopes to relocate into the building by the end of the year.

Lewis said the larger building will allow Performance Display to integrate new lean manufacturing processes that can’t be done as well in its current facilities, allowing the company more room for profit and a chance to reduce waste.
