According to Bloomberg, corn yields in the United States may fall 10 percent short of government forecasts, the biggest drop in 13 years. Prices are also expected to go up another 34 percent as storms delay planting and stunt growth. Corn rose to a record $6.73 a bushel yesterday in Chicago trading.
Aviva USA announced the extension of relationship with Mayo Clinic Health Solutions today that will support a new “Wellness for Life” program. The program is designed to reward people for taking proactive steps to stay healthy, and is an exclusive life insurance program meant to increase life expectancy and potentially reduce the cost of insurance for participants.
Iowa State University plans to implement numerous projects as an effort to make the campus more environmentally friendly. The “Live Green!” initiative will add a new office on campus, as well as make all new buildings Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified. The new office will be called the Office of Sustainability Programs and will be given a $3 million Energy Conservation and Global Climate Change revolving loan fund. ISU also plans to make three new facilities LEED-certified buildings.
