Flood disaster loans available
Financial assistance is out there for flood victims in need. The U.S. Small Business Administration has declared that disaster loans will be available for homeowners, renters and small business owners. These loans include home disaster loans, business physical disaster loans and economic injury disaster loans.
The home disaster loans are for homeowners or renters wishing to repair or replace damaged real estate or personal property that they own. Renters are eligible for their personal property losses, including automobiles.
Business physical disaster loans will be made available to owners of businesses of any size who wish to repair or replace damaged property, including real estate, inventories, supplies, machinery and equipment. Nonprofit organizations are also eligible for this type of loan.
The economic injury disaster loans are to provide working capital to small businesses and small agricultural cooperatives to assist them through the disaster recovery period. Farmers, ranchers, nurseries, religious and nonprofit organizations are not eligible for this type of loan.
Business loans cannot exceed $1.5 million and can only include uninsured or otherwise uncompensated disaster losses. Secondary homes, personal pleasure boats, airplanes, recreation vehicles and similar property are not eligible unless used for business purposes.
