Des Moines Arts Festival participants can take advantage of valet parking for their bicycles or their vehicles during this year’s festival, which begins Friday in Western Gateway Park. More than 200,000 people are expected to attend the free three-day event. Setup for the event began today at 9 a.m. Free parking will be available at two Nationwide Insurance parking ramps at 12th and Mulberry streets and 12th and Cherry streets. City meters are free after 6 p.m. on Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday. Bike valet parking, provided by Friends of Central Iowa Trails, will be offered just west of 10th and Locust streets across from the Des Moines Central Library.
