Iowa ranks as a top 10 business state in CNBC list
Iowa is one of the top states for business, according to CNBC’s annual list.
Iowa is the No. 9 on the CNBC list of America’s Top States for Business. The state was helped by a No. 1 ranking in the Cost of Doing Business category (tied with Arkansas) and No. 5 in Economy, up five spots from last year.
The state’s lowest rankings were in Infrastructure and Transportation (37) and Access to Capital (35).
Each state was scored using publicly available data on 43 measures of competitiveness. The measures were separated into 10 broad categories.
Iowa dropped three spots in the overall rankings after coming in at No. 6 last year.
Virginia ranked as the No. 1 state for business, followed by Texas at No. 2. Rounding out the top 10 were North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Utah and Nebraska.
The bottom five were Rhode Island, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi and West Virginia.
