SBA announces state winners for 2012 Small Business Week
The Small Business Administration (SBA) recently announced the state winners of its 2012 Small Business Week Awards. The national event will take place the week of May 20 and will honor more than 26 million small businesses. Award winners include Timothy Greene, owner of Quality Machine of Iowa Inc., who won the Iowa Small Business Person of the Year award. Greene helped the Audubon-based manufacturing business expand services to compete globally. Greene will represent the state at the National Small Business Week ceremonies in Washington, D.C., May 20-26. Merrill Manufacturing Co. won the Iowa Small Business Exporter of the Year award. The company has exported to Canada and Mexico for 30 years, and for the last five years it has expanded exports worldwide. Hills Bank and Trust won the Iowa Community/Rural Lender of the Year award. HIlls Bank and Trust has 10 locations and helps small businesses receive SBA financing, approving 30 loans in the past year alone.
