Flood preparedness campaign kicks off

A campaign intended to help Iowans prepare for flood events will kick off during next month’s Flood Awareness Month. “Don’t Test the Waters,” which will include a number of media interviews and advertising campaigns, is being supported by $216,000 worth of federal Community Development Block Grant funds that were provided to Iowa following the 2008 floods. “Our goal is to help Iowans understand everyone can be affected by a flood,” said Angel Robinson, a consumer advocate with the Iowa Insurance Division and program manager for a two-year flood awareness and readiness campaign. The campaign’s website, www.DontTestTheWatersIowa.gov, launched this week.
