Insurance division launches flood awareness program
The Iowa Insurance Division, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Homeland Security and Emergency Management, has launched a statewide flood awareness program.
The “Don’t Test the Waters” information program is designed to educate Iowans on how to prepare for a flood, protect property from flooding and determine if flood insurance is appropriate.
The state agencies have created several online planning tools at www.DontTestTheWatersIowa.gov to assess flood risk and insurance rates and determine in which communities National Flood Insurance Program flood insurance policies are available, among other things.
