Branstad to attend SCI anniversary celebration
The Science Center of Iowa and Blank IMAX Dome Theater (SCI) will celebrate its sixth anniversary in downtown Des Moines and Iowa Museum Day on May 14. Gov. Terry Branstad ill be on hand from 8 to 9 a.m. to kick off the celebration and tour SCI’s latest traveling exhibition, Body Worlds Vital. SCI staff will feature live programs throughout the day and free cupcakes are available for the first 200 visitors. Since its move downtown, SCI has served 2.3 million participants, and 500,000 children have participated in educational programs, making it one of the most popular cultural attractions in the state. The museum will open an hour early on Saturday, at 8 a.m.
