Weitz Co. likely to construct new DART Central Station hub
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) announced today that The Weitz Co. has submitted the lowest bid to construct the new DART hub at 620 Cherry St. and is likely to be awarded the contract at the May 31 DART Commission meeting.
Officials broke ground on the hub with a ceremony today, where officials unveiled the hub’s name, DART Central Station, selected after more than 200 ideas were submitted from the public.
Construction will get under way in June and is expected to be completed by fall 2012, officials said.
