G.M. to add 2,500 jobs at Detroit plant
General Motors Co. announced that it plans to invest $69 million and add about 2,500 jobs at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to build the next-generation Chevrolet Impala large sedan and other cars, Reuters reported. The plant will also build the new Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan alongside the Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera electric cars. GM North America President Mark Reuss announced the investment at the plant on Wednesday. The investment is part of a previously announced plan by GM to invest $2 billion in 17 U.S. plants. Among the investments announced already have been $109 million at two Michigan plants and $131 million at a Kentucky plant to build a new version of the Corvette.
