Clifton Gunderson LLP and LarsonAllen LLP, ranked as two of the nation’s top 20 certified public accounting and consulting firms, yesterday announced plans to merge and form one of the 10 largest accounting firms in the United States, with more than $550 million in combined revenues. The partners of both firms have agreed to the combination. Pending final approvals, the merger will take effect Jan. 2. The combined firm will be named CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA). The combined firm will have a national wealth management practice positioned as one of the top three in the accounting profession, with nearly $3 billion in assets under management. CLA will employ more than 3,600 professionals, including more than 500 partners, and operate in 25 states and Washington, D.C. Clifton Gunderson employs 45 people at its West Des Moines office, according to the 2011 Book of Lists.
