Governor encourages companies, communities to take Live Healthy challenge

On Monday, Gov. Terry Branstad urged businesses and communities to continue their efforts to make Iowa the healthiest state by taking part in Live Healthy Iowa Community and Corporate Cup Challenges, which are friendly competitions designed to encourage more Iowa communities and businesses to enter teams in the Live Healthy Iowa – 100 Day Wellness Challenge, which runs from Jan. 23-May 1, 2012. Live Healthy Iowa is a team-based initiative to promote better health through positive lifestyle changes. During the annual Live Healthy Iowa – 100 Day Wellness Challenge, teams of Iowans track their weight and activity minutes and motivate one another to lose weight and improve their overall fitness. Individuals may form teams with family members or friends, but most participation in the program comes through companies and communities that promote and sponsor the program.
